Ritu Varsha

Varsha ritu or rainy season in India is from mid July to mid Septermber. Rains cool  the environment and rejuvenate life after the blistering heat of a dry summer. The flora including lotus flowers in village ponds come to full bloom in a variety of hues of pink,  white etc. The inert leaves languishing in the dry summer heat of grishma ritu ie summer become revitalised, green and almost juicy. The kalash (the vessel containing vegetation) shown in the painting is mentioned in the Rig Veda and is the embodiment of life and fulfilment of hope and expectation.
